BIO: ARTISTE/SONGWRITER/GUITARIST/PRODUCER
Almando "Mundo Don" Douglas (26y-o) was born in Spanish Town and grew up in Kingston Jamaica. The name Mundo Don was given to him by friends, "Mundo" short for Almando and the "Don" was added because that was how they showed respect in his circle of friends.
His musical journey would begin in primary school where he joined the school's choir in grade 5. He went on to Meadowbrook high and started learning guitar in grade 8. A year after this he and his friends started recording themselves on dancehall instrumentals from Steven McGregor until he stopped releasing them so they started building the beat themselves.
After Meadowbrook while working at Pricesmart in 2014 Mundo entered the local "On the Verge" competition with Deejay Amali formerly Eva Hype and placed 3rd out of over 500 contestants. The following year he entered Digicel's Rising Stars with a singer Univers and made top 10 out of over thousands of contestants island wide. He then left his job and enrolled at Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts to further his musical knowledge and guitar skills. During his tenure at the college he became a sought after guitarist, working with alot of big names. Acts such as Iba Mahr, Keznamdi, Tessellated, Charly Black, Half Pint, Etana, Koffee and Sevana just to name a few.
During this time he says he was focusing on music production and guitar and wasn't writing any songs.
Fast forward to 2019, Mundo Don started writing again but this time was urged by his friends to start performing and take becoming an artiste serious. He took their advice and did his 1st performance and after seeing the reaction of the audience hasn't looked back since. He considers himself a new wave artiste and describes his style as being like water. "Though it takes different shapes and forms it'll always be water. Reggae and Dancehall are my roots that will not change" he said.
